DC Central Kitchen

Washington, DC

DC Central Kitchen exists to combat hunger and create opportunity in Washington, D.C. As the nation’s first and leading community kitchen, they believe that waste is fundamentally wrong–be it in the form of food or human potential. That’s why it has partnered with Specialty Food Foundation to use recovered food to feed hungry members of the city, collaborate with local farmers to purchase their ‘imperfect’ produce that wouldn’t otherwise have a retail market, and develop innovative food association partnerships to provide food industry jobs to chronically unemployed adults. This year, DC Central Kitchen will provide healthy food and opportunities for economic advancement to 13,000 at-risk residents.
