Food Recovery Network

College Park, MD

Food Recovery Network is the largest student movement against food waste and hunger in America. In four years, FRN has grown to 160 chapters and has recovered and redirected 1 million pounds of food. Its chapters recover surplus food from campus communities and donate it to nearby hunger-fighting nonprofits. Through relationships with FRN chapters, the nonprofit partners provide quality and nutritious food to those they serve. FRN takes a unique approach to food recovery through its model; by empowering college students, they are able to tackle the intersecting issues of food waste and food insecurity.
